“No Laughing Matter: Political Cartoons and the Arkansas Historical Perspective” began as a product of an unrelated project when the UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture<\/a> (CAHC) proposed a workshop for teachers, librarians, and archivists around the state. The workshop, Teaching a Web of Arkansas History, brought together professionals from around the state to learn about digitizing photographs, writing about the photographs, and creating online exhibits to highlight archival material. For the workshops, Center staff thought political cartoons would be interesting source materials for the participants to work with and contemplate exhibiting.<\/p>\n The Bill Graham Cartoon Collection (UALR.MS.0022) contains the original art, clippings, rough drawings, bylines, and other materials of William Karr “Bill” Graham, editorial cartoonist for the\u00a0Arkansas Gazette<\/em>\u00a0(1948-1985).<\/p>\n View the\u00a0finding aid<\/a>\u00a0online.<\/p>\n The Jon Kennedy Cartoon Collection (UALR.MS.0023) primarily contains the editorial cartoons of Jon Kennedy, editorial cartoonist for the\u00a0Arkansas Democrat<\/em>\u00a0(1941-1988). The collection contains cartoon art from the 1960’s through the 1980’s, though not every year is complete.
