Excerpts

“Fruit Badly Damaged.
The blizzard which struck Arkansas
March 22 did untold damage to the
fruit and berry crops, especially in the
northwestern counties. The heaviest
snow of the season fell in Washington
county on the above date, and, owing
to the unusual warm weather for two
weeks previous, the damage done was
great. From all sections of the state a
fall in the temperature of from 30 to
40 degrees was reported, which means a
heavy loss to truck farmers as well as
fruit growers.”

Questions:
How did the weather change in Arkansas during March 1898?
Who else might have been affected by the blizzard?
