The Return Home

The Return Home

Set in 1800, this story is about young Davy Crockett from Tennessee. In Davy's youth, his father had hired him out for wages to a stockman, who was herding cattle to Virginia. Davy leaves the stockman and rides with a wagoner to a farm, where he finds work. After several months, Davy decides that it is time to go home. Before he leaves the farm, the farmer and his wife warn Davy of dangerous men on the roads, men who would kidnap a young boy for the wages he could bring. While Davy is visiting the big city of Baltimore, an evil man kidnaps him in order to make a profit. Davy's woodsman skills serve him well as he silently slips away while his kidnapper sleeps. Davy, now a young man, makes it back to Tennessee with many tales to tell. And he vows never to let his trusty gun, "Old Betsy," out of his sight.
