Victor “Vic” Frederick Snyder, M.D., served as an Arkansas state senator (1991-1996) and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Arkansas’ Second Congressional District (1997-2011). Prior to his political career, Snyder served in the U.S. Marine Corps and obtained both a medical and a legal degree.

In his oral history, Snyder discusses his time in the Arkansas state senate and U.S. Congress. Topics include his state senate bills, his chief of staff Ed Fry, his reaction to and the effects of the 9/11 attacks, his goals while on the House Armed Services Committee and House Veterans Affairs Committee, his work with foreign countries, his favorite community engagement activities, his reasons for not running for re-election, his views on hyper-partisanship, and other subjects of interest including healthcare, climate change, and the Little Rock Air Force Base.
